With all of the messages about various InterNet <-> WhateverNet gateways,
InterNet <-> UUCP, etc. and all of the various follow-up messages about
who is right and who is wrong, I'm just downright confused ! So my
question is, would anybody be interested in putting together a definitive
list/article on the different gateways, etc. so that the confused masses
would have something to refer to ??

Thanks,

Sam

In article <7186@tank.uchicago.edu> scb1@tank.uchicago.edu (Sam
Blackman) asks about inter-network gateways between the various
world-wide and otherwise networks.

Check out John Quarterman's book "The Matrix", recently published by
Digital Press. It's a wonderful guide to most of the networks and
tells where they've come from, what they do and how people use them,
and how to get there from here (wherever here is). It's got quite a
lot of stuff in it about the Internet and the USENET.

Such a list is already periodically posted to (I believe)
comp.mail.misc, right where it belongs.
