[news.software.notes] Pipe command while reading notes

misko@ohlone (07/08/87)

If anyone is interested, I have added a pipe command to the
"While reading anything" commands. While reading a note or
a response, you may enter |. The user is prompted for the
command to pipe to, and the note or response is piped into
that command. Useful for | lp or | mail <user> if you do not
want to edit the text.

If you are interested in a diff (from 1.7) for this "enhancement",
drop me some mail.

The version of 1.7 notes I installed at Mirror Systems had this
command built in already -- if you did "s" or "S" and the filename
started with a pipe symbol... s|lpr would print the current note
on the printer.

You are correct!! Amazing... I just wish it had been
documented. Oh well... Thanks for the info.
