Yesterday, I accidently posted a copy of Gene Spaffords checkgroups message with a distribution of world. It was supposed to be a local distribution. I'm sorry for the confusion. Several people have asked what the status of net.announce.arpa-internet is, since I posted a rmgroup for it Sunday. net.announce.arpa-internet is dead. The contents of it are being manually forwarded to the appropriate group (usually misc.jobs or mod.conferences), so no postings are being missed. It should not be included in the next list of active groups. ---rick

To echo Rick Adams, yes, net.announce.arpa-internet is dead; I shut off the gateway here at ucbvax last week. The ARPANET-BBOARDS mailing list is now being taken care of by looking at each message, and posting it in the appropriate forum (e.g. mod.conferences, comp.jobs), so we're not missing anything.
