I have noticed two problems with patch #5 for the netnews software as distributed. Am I imagining things, or are these really problems? We are currently running news 2.11 PATCHLEVEL 4 without local modifications on System V Release 3.0 on an AT&T 3B2/310. 1) The modifications to the area around line 148 in inews.c (presumably to fix up locking) were rejected. I believe that the problem is a comment that currently reads "/* !LOCKF */" which the patch expects to be "/* V7 */". 2) The function "mydomain()", references to which were added to a number of files, including header.c and inews.c, is defined in uname.c. Unfortunately, the Makefile.dst has not been updated to reflect this. Both of these are relatively easy to work around, but I would appreciate seeing an official correction. -- Kian-Tat Lim Unix System Manager Haverford College, Haverford, PA 19041-1392 K_LIM @ HVRFORD.BITNET; ihnp4!cbmvax!vu-vlsi!hvrunix!klim
