We seem to be have a bit of a problem. There is a directory under "control" on our system called "hcontrol". The messages in this directory (seemingly control messages) are not being expired when expire is run with no options. The first we knew of this is when the spool overflowed. When I ran "expire -n control.hcontrol" it cleared out all but two of the messages in this directory. The questions are: What is this directory? Should it be there? Should expire be working on it? hcontrol does not show up in the active file, is this why expire leaves it alone? (I'm tempted to blow the hcontrol directory away, and see what happens, but I thought I would ask the wiser net-adms first.) Replies by mail, please. I expect that I'm alone in having this problem.
