Help!!!!!!!!!
I have just arrived at my summer job here in Baltimore, to discover
that noone has been doing any maintenance on the news/mail system here
since last march. It seems that the path databases haven't been
updated since then. Moreover, I seem to recall that when I was here
last summer, they were not routing mail properly.
Anyway, so I went to the sys-op and asked him about it, and he told me
that if I wanted it fixed, I would have to do it myself. OK. So I got
some articles on comp.mail.maps unpacked. The names are allof the
following form: ?.country.state.? So I need to remake the paths
database now. Unfortunately, it seems that pathalias does not exist on
our system. It has vanished, as far as I can tell. We use uuhosts to
read the path file now, and it's supposed to understand the maps, but
the newsgrouop names have all been changed so nothing jives. The
manual entries are all wrong too. There is no man entry for pathalias
at all.
I'M COMPLETELY STUCK!!!
I NEED TO HAVE THIS UP AND RUNNING IN NO MORE THAT 1.5 WEEKS!!!
HHHHEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLPPPPPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Please send responses by mail. I took me forever to figger out a
decent path to myself, but it seems to be:
...ames!pyramid!osiris!jdia
or
...mimsy!aplcen!osiris!jdia
If you have never heard of uuhosts, could you indicate a better host
information program and where I might get the sources?
I am really confused about pathalias, etc. I could use whatever help
you could possibly give me concerning this problem.
Mega Thanks in Advance...
