The multi-line (folded) Received: headers should now be gone from netnews sent from Andrew (andrew.cmu.edu, at Carnegie-Mellon University). The site to which we submit our posts (via NNTP) used to delete them, but I believe that their new version of the NNTP software stopped removing these headers. Thus, they made it to USENET for all to poke at. I'm sorry for the inconvenience. I'm told that the RMAIL package sent with GNU-Emacs adds the posting-front-end: gnu-emacs header. I don't know whether somebody here is using this package and sending those headers. By the way, those of you who waved the name RFC850 around should know that it fully supports our using Received: headers in this way. There were reasons for removing those headers, but ``violation of RFC850'' wasn't one of them. (My face is going to be mighty red if this appears on news.admin with our Received: headers.)
