[news.admin] Expire: It fails ..

jwabik@shamash.UUCP (Jeff Wabik) (10/02/87)

I'm rather new to being a news/mail administrator, thus I have a few questions
lingering in the back of my mind:

1) Expire fails daily, citing, "expire: dbm store failed", as the cause.
I'm not sure why this happens, nor am I sure what to do to fix it.
I rebuilt the history file using "expire -r <etc, etc>", but the
problem persists. Any advice would be appreciated.

2) I appreciate greatly how WONDERFUL a finely tuned mailer can be,
unfortunately, until recently, I never had to deal with it and now
am going completely insane. I understand the concepts behind and sources
for UUCP maps, but have no knowledge on the software that uses the
maps, or how to set it up. I know this is a large request, but I'm
sure the expertise out there could benefit many readers.

Thanks in advance ..
