  Well, we have hired at least one person here at NCAR that heard about us
by reading net postings from here (even though he didn't hear about the 
particular job that he now has via that route). We have received many applicants
for jobs directly from net postings. I have had people look at my rental unit
that heard about it via net postings (I posted those to co.general, so no one
in New Jersey should have seen it :-) And there is no real additional cost
for such a posting. It seems to work at least as well as a newspaper ad,
and in certain cases (like searching for UNIX people) it's even better.
