We got some mailer error reports in response to a recent posting to comp.lang.c. Judging from the "To:" lines cited, comp.lang.c articles are being turned into mail in order to pass them to the Arpa INFO-C mailing list, and the failure is occurring somewhere downstream from there. Would the keepers of the relevant gateways care to look into it? There may be two different gateways involved here ... notice that the headers of the two returned messages don't match up (e.g., only one has a Posted-Date: line.) tom lane, netnews admin netnews@pt.cs.cmu.edu Auto-complaint message #1: Return-Path: <@RELAY.CS.NET:ean@UBC.CSNET> Received: from RELAY.CS.NET by PT.CS.CMU.EDU; 29 Jan 88 00:51:14 EST Received: from relay2.cs.net by RELAY.CS.NET id ae28758; 28 Jan 88 23:56 EST Received: from ubc by RELAY.CS.NET id ac02273; 28 Jan 88 23:43 EST Date: Thu, 28 Jan 88 20:29:27 pst Message-Id: <8801290429.AA23357@ean.ubc.ca> Received: by ean.ubc.ca id AA23357; Thu, 28 Jan 88 20:29:27 pst To: netnews@PT.CS.CMU.EDU From: CA Gateway <postmaster%ean.ubc.ca@RELAY.CS.NET> Subject: CA Mail Network -- failed mail ----- Mail failure diagnostics ----- Rejected-Message-id: <744@PT.CS.CMU.EDU> Message Recipients: info-c@ean.ubc.cdn: transfer failure -- MTA congestion ----- Unsent message follows ----- From: Eddie Wyatt <edw@ius1.cs.cmu.edu> Sender: netnews@pt.cs.cmu.edu To: info-c@brl-smoke.arpa Message-ID: <744@PT.CS.CMU.EDU> Subject: Re: Power (Re: all those :-) >Newsgroups: comp.lang.c [body of article omitted...] Auto-complaint message #2: Return-Path: <@TOR.NTA.NO:postmaster@tor.re.nta.uninett> Received: from TOR.NTA.NO by PT.CS.CMU.EDU; 29 Jan 88 07:16:28 EST Date: Fri, 29 Jan 88 13:15:31 +0100 Posted-Date: Fri, 29 Jan 88 13:15:31 +0100 Message-Id: <8801291215.AA06083@tor.nta.no> Received: by tor.nta.no (5.54/3.21) id AA06083; Fri, 29 Jan 88 13:15:31 +0100 To: netnews@PT.CS.CMU.EDU From: UNINETT Gateway <postmaster%tor.re.nta.uninett@TOR.nta.no> Subject: UNINETT Mail Network -- failed mail ----- Mail failure diagnostics ----- Rejected-Message-id: <744@PT.CS.CMU.EDU> Message Recipients: x_borge_k@use.uio.uninett: transfer failure -- Message Transfer Agent congestion, try again ----- Unsent message follows ----- From: Eddie Wyatt <edw@IUS1.CS.CMU.EDU> Sender: netnews@PT.CS.CMU.EDU To: info-c@brl-smoke.arpa Message-ID: <744@PT.CS.CMU.EDU> Subject: Re: Power (Re: all those :-) >Posted-Date: 28 Jan 88 15:16:36 GMT >Newsgroups: comp.lang.c [body of article omitted...] --
