As the periodic poster of the rather huge Dhrystone results, I've taken a hard line on sending out email copies. I've been refusing to do it! I figure that it just isn't worth my phone bill or the USENET's either. Recently, I got such an email request, and sent my usual reply: watch comp.arch around the end of August. This person replied that they did not get comp.arch (even though they appeared to be only one site removed from uunet!). He wanted me to "CC" it to him when I posted. I didn't think that you could CC an individual on a posting. Am I right? If I am, then of course this is just another ploy to get me to send out two copies, one for the net and one for this person. But it seems like a reasonable thing to do: this individual wants to receive just the one article, and it seems plausable that his upstream feed could see his site name in a CC and send it on for posting. Hmm, could I just put "to.xyzzy" on the newsgroups line? -- Rick Richardson, PC Research, Inc.
