Greetings Usenetters:
Recently, several people who apparently spend a large portion of their net
access time on the talk.bizarre, alt.sex, and/or alt.flame newsgroups decided
^^^^ ^^^^^^^ ^^^ ^^^ ^^^ ^^^^^
that Usenet was being damaged by articles posted from users@Portal.
You have just seen the result of an attempt of theirs to "save" the net.
I am referring to the form-letter style articles from Allen Gwinn,
William Thacker, Patricia O Tuama, Oleg Kiselev, and others. (Be sure to
catch their classy act on one of the three groups mentioned above,
especially if you like to read articles that are generously sprinkled
with "fuck", "shit", and other intellectually stimulating words.)
Ironically enough, they mentioned what JJ@Portal did to the net. By allowing
their little prank to spill over the bounds of alt.flame (where it belonged),
they are guilty of the same type of irresponsible and abusive net.behavior
as was JJ. At least Portal was responsible enough to terminate JJ's
account for that.
I promise not to waste any more space on this topic in the news.admin and
news.sysadmin areas. It is obvious that further discussion belongs on
alt.flame. Those individuals who insist on keeping it going on and on and on
in inappropriate groups will probably continue to do so until they
receive enough mail pleading with them to desist.
