Some people here in Japan and in soc.culture.japan are contemplating trying to do some posting in Japanese. (Stuff that will come up on a special display as real Japanese, not just alphanumerics.) Inside Japan, I believe it is done using the JIS code. I am told that this is a seven bit code where sequences of Japanese text are escaped before and afterward. I am wondering if anyone out there could tell me if there are any technical difficulties in doing this. Someone on the fj (from japan) net has said that some mail software along the way may strip the escape codes. Is this true? Thanks a lot. Mark Feldman Fujitsu Laboratories Ltd.
