[news.admin] Mid-Election report: comp.archives

vote@rpp386.Dallas.TX.US (Comp.archives voting) (09/30/88)

Approximately 15 days ago an election was called for the newsgroup
comp.archives, which is being suggested for the posting of archive site
information. This newsgroup is to be moderated by T. William Wells
(bill@twwells, bill@proxftl).

There current vote count stands at approximately 225 in favor and 5
against. Because of the very high vote count, and the high margin,
I will not be mailing out summaries. I really don't think it is
needed at this point in time.

A letter has been sent to Gene Spafford advising him that the group
will most likely pass. Hopefully everything will begin to work
correctly in two more weeks when the newgroup is issued. Adminstrators
should add an entry for comp-archives to their mailpaths file. Bill
has informed me that twwells will soon be, or is by now, connected to
uunet, so you can use a route thru uunet.

I expect that I will be posting a final tally in two weeks and
issuing the newgroup message at that same time, along with mailing
spaf the From: lines for the votes. If you have not yet voted, and
think you need to, please reply to this article. Edit the Subject:
line to reflect your vote.

Thank you for your support -
- John.
