Record Review of Star Fleet Project:

This is a "mini-album" put together by Brian May, the guitarist for queen.
It's essentially a recording of a jam session with Brian, Eddie Van Halen
and 3 other musicians.

There are three songs "Star Fleet", "Let Me Out" and "Blues Breaker" which
is a tribute to Eric Clapton. Most of the songs are just very loose
arrangements of cliches, "Star Fleet" being the exception.

Rather than boring most people with a detailed review, I'll just say that if
you like the styles of either May or Van Halen, you will probably enjoy this
album. There is some excellent guitar playing. My favorite was "Let Me Out",
which is a kinda blues rocker where VH plays a great solo without doing any of
his usual guitar tricks. I also consider this to be Brian Mays best playing
since "Night at the Opera".

They left the mix pretty rough, which I think was a good idea because it
really gives you the feel of a jam session. Someone broke a string in one
song and they even left that in.
