[news.admin] Need "safe" unshar for comp.mail.maps

I need a "safe" unshar to unpack the maps posted to comp.mail.maps.  I
don't have the new awk (I saw a "safe" unshar that required nawk) on this
system.

Anything that will do the job or pointers to the same will be appreciated.
