What is going on with isis!security mailing list? I have sent several times for an application, and not a whimper. I have talked to a couple of netters who are on the list, and they haven't received anything for quite some time. -- Dan Troxel @ Handwriting Research Corporation WK 1-602-957-8870 Camelback Corporate Center 2821 E. Unfortunately Mr. Burt, the moderator of this list, did show up when Neil (the other security list moderator) brought up the point of taking over this list. Mr. Burt then promised to reactivate the former security list. But now we are in the same position again - we do receive just nothing from this list. Also on special wishes from Mr. Burt there are lot's of redistribution points around - waiting for something to redistribute. I would suggest, that we do something about it, now! I Agree, I think an official notice should be posted on news.groups and news.admin that the list be taken over by another moderator and that if there is no official reply to the notice by Mr. Burt that general announcements of the change be made to everyone. The list is alive and well; an issue just went out yesterday, and a few weeks ago before that. I've been busy to the point where I haven't taken care of all the messages in the security-request box, but there aren't that many left in there. If you've sent a request to the automated "I want to join" address, isis!sec-request-application and you haven't heard anything, send again. -- Andrew Burt ncar!isis!aburt "Now go away or I shall taunt you a second time."

Mr. Burt then promised to reactivate >the former security list. But now we are in the same position again - we do >receive just nothing from this list. Hi, this is Neil (the other security list moderator). The zardoz security list is alive and well, has over 350 members, and welcomes new qualified members. The list is hosted on cpd.com (zardoz.uucp), which will be directly connected into the internet within a month (that's the schedule, anyway). Digests have been sent out fairly regularly. This list's membership is based on the premise that system administrators or persons recomended by their system's administrators can join. So please, if you want in, or have tried to get in in the past, try again. There have been a number of mail problems in Orange County in the past few months, and your mail might have simply been lost. I use uunet for almost all mail now, so there shouldn't be any more lost mail. >Also on special wishes from Mr. Burt there are lot's of redistribution >points around - waiting for something to redistribute. Due to the excellent connections zardoz has, some quirks of mailers that I take advantage of, and the resources available here, there is no need of redistribution points. If you are a redistribution point waiting for digests, send me the names of the intended destinations and I will add any that are immediately verifiable for membership to this list. >I would suggest, that we do something about it, now! Subscribe to the working list (mine :<). There have been problems at various points in the past with mail to/from Europe, so if you tried to get on to the zardoz list, please try again. Also, my mailer doesn't seem to do very well with %'s in addresses. The best bet is to send mail via uucp to uunet!zardoz!security-request or to send it to security-request@cpd.com if you are on the internet. If you are from a uucp maps listed site, please send me mail from one of the following: 1. root 2. the email contact name 3. the map entry writer's email name If you are sending mail from an internet site, please send it from an NIC registered site from one of the following: 1. root 2. the NIC listed contact Or, if you are not one of the above, send me mail anyway, and we can probably work something out.
