I have a strange thing happening on my system. The news comes in and gets stored no problems. Everything seems to work fine until a new newsgroup is created by usenet. Everything seems tobe set up correctly except the directory is not created. I think I have pinned it down to mkdir failing. My errlog indicates I should check permisions but it all seems fine to me anyway. All the spool directories are owned and grouped to news. I have rnews and inews owned and grouped by news as well. I have the setuid on rnews and inews turned on. By this I mean the modes are set to 4755. The spool directories have mode 755 and the files seem to get 644. I suspect that because rnews gets handed the files by uucp, when a control file comes through mkdir fails because the effective user is uucp. This is just a guess. If it is true I am not sure how to get around the problem. If this is not the case, I'm lost. (HELP!) Any information would certainly be appreciated.
