I recently posted an article about my rn program doing bizarre things. The program would start and start giving the message: "Warning! Somebody has reset [newsgroup]. Assuming nothing read." I got several responses saying that the numbers in the .newsrc file were not in line with those in the active file. So I checked that out. Not so. Many of the newsgroups I had errors on had no articles mentioned in either file and in fact some of them had NEVER had news in them. EVER. So, needless to say I'm pretty confused The only thing I can think of is that the expire program is doing strange things some where along the line, because this seems to occur after an expire is done. I have it set up in crontabs as: 15 23 * * * /bin/su news -c "/usr/lib/news/expire -e 4 -E 14 -I" > /dev/null I don't see how this could produce the message. I'm running netnews that SCO provides and I've heard its quirky. Any help would be appreciated. -- Jesse W.
