Monday evening (September 4) another 134 old news articles arrived in
San Diego. As with the last batch that came in on August 25, all
articles were dated August 15, although most were originally posted in
mid-July. This time, all but one article had
rit!tropix!ur-valhalla!uhura.cc.rochester.edu!rochester
in its path. The one exception was <1991@kodak.UUCP>, whose path had
rit!tropix!ur-valhalla!uhura.cc.rochester.edu!sunybcs
in it. Below is a complete list of the message ids of the reappearing
articles.
It sure seems as if someone is running some old batches and somehow
munging the article dates.
An interesting anomaly is <10697@polya.Stanford.ED`>. I noticed that
<10697@polya.Stanford.EDU> is still in my history file, but it came in
on 8/26/89. The recently-reposted article with the ` in it has been
munged quite noticeably.

So is anyone actually doing anything about this problem? I don't much
like the idea of doubling my history file's size from 13.7 meg to 26.4
meg (expire -E), but unless this shit stops soon I guess I'll have to.
