[news.admin] Looking for feed and/or FTP access in Nashua, NH area

tyager@maxx.UUCP (Tom Yager) (10/06/89)

My machine and I will be relocating soon, and I'll be losing local access
to my current newsfeed site. Hence, I am in need of access to systems for
my newsfeed, network mail and FTP transfers. I'm not necessarily looking for
all of these things from one site, so if anyone is in a position to provide
any one or two of these services, that would be dandy.

Maxx is a 20MHz Siva '386 from VNS America Corp., with 450MB of SCSI disk.
It is networked with Cuthbert, which is an identically configured system.
Maxx has been opened up for free public access, and is providing net mail,
news and selected FTP archives to people who wouldn't otherwise have access
to these items. I explain this because there are many people on the net who
feel that connections to small systems are proliferating too quickly. As I
am providing a service to the user community, I feel justified in my efforts
to maintain my link to the net.

Maxx is presently equipped with both a 2400 baud MNP 5 modem, and a Telebit
T2500 (PEP & V.32). I'd like a local Nashua link, but would happily accept
making calls out of my immediate area if I can get a high-speed connection
through my T2500.

For ftp access, I would request a login and permission to use ftp during
off-peak hours. I have plenty of experience with UNIX and am more than
satisfied with the toys I have; I'd have no desire to go poking around
in your system. I'd be willing to live in a restricted shell if necessary.

Please respond via e-mail to "tyager%maxx@m2c.m2c.org". Thanks to all in
advance.
