[news.admin] obnoxious FIDOnet dups

phil@diablo.amd.com (10/05/89)

Every couple of weeks we get a bunch of blank articles, apparently
from FIDO net sites. A lot of them are apparent forgeries. Who can I
yell at about this? I don't have any idea where to begin, or if this
is even the right newsgroup for such a discussion.

It seems to be a software problem. There was a discussion about this a
few days ago. The administrators of the systems that are causing the
problems are contacting the authors of the software to see if they
have any ideas.

Who are these people? I want to contact them myself.

FYI: The duplicate articles from FidoNet nodes are not forgeries. They
is caused by a (now) known bug in newsin that occurs when the disk gets
full. I'm sure that a patch/new version will be available REAL SOON to
fix the problem.

If you have a complaint about a FidoNode, you can mail it to
postmaster@thatnode.fidonet.org. Each node is supposidly independant
from any real authority. If you still have a problem, you can contact
the fidonet hostmaster (me, at this time).
