[news.admin] a sendsys summary

brodie@fps.mcw.edu (10/17/89)

In the recent sendsys I sent out, I discovered a few items:

1) Some sites notes that they were receiving "multiple" requests
for the sendsys. Apparently, one or more of the downstream
sites was repeating the message. Weird.

2) The "rmail" commands in about two dozen replies have been bashed.
In some, a "bang" was missing, in others, my site name got truncated.
Two dozen mis-configured sites out of 2,000 isn't bad.

3) Traffic was JAMMED the first day. That was due to that my forwarder
is a real INTERNET node, and thus all the INTERNET sites replied.
   Immediately.

I don't have any stats on file sizes yet, as replies are still trickling in...
(as return paths get LONGER and LONGER... :-)
