At the VERY LEAST there should have been discussion before someone posted a control message to unmoderate comp.dcom.telecom. That list is a feed from the TELECOM digest on the Internet and as such if someone posts to that list, there will be no filtering back to the digest for the other readers. Someone is posting a control message to the net trying to unmoderate TELECOM. I am asking all sysadmins who read this list to not consent to that control message. TELECOM is not requesting that comp.dcom.telecom be unmoderated, and the person who is asking for this is out of line. This is the rest of the message I got from the TELECOM moderator From: System Administrator <telenet!nessus!dkpurks@uunet.uu.net> Message-Id: <8910201120.AA03688@nessus.telenet.com> To: TELECOM Moderator <uunet!eecs.nwu.edu!telecom@uunet.uu.net> Date: Fri, 20 Oct 89 7:20:07 EDT Subject: strange control messages In-Reply-To: Message from "TELECOM Moderator" of Oct 19, 89 at 9:03 pm X-Mailer: Elm [version 1.5] The guy that sent this sent several others as well... >From uucp@telenet.com Fri Oct 13 08:06:15 1989 >Return-Path: <uucp@telenet.com> >Received: from telenet.telenet.com by nessus.telenet.com (4.0/SMI-3.2) > id AA00517; Fri, 13 Oct 89 08:06:13 EDT >Received: by telenet.telenet.com (3.2/SMI-3.2) > id AA24696; Fri, 13 Oct 89 08:02:59 EDT >From: uucp@telenet.com >Message-Id: <8910131202.AA24696@telenet.telenet.com> >Date: 13 Oct 89 12:02:57 GMT >To: news@telenet.com >Subject: Newsgroup comp.dcom.telecom changed from moderated to unmoderated >Responding-System: telenet.telenet.com > >uunet!mcsun!sunic!liuida!prosys!news >has requested that comp.dcom.telecom be changed from moderated to unmoderated >You can accomplish this by re-creating the newsgroup by executing the command: >/news/lib/inews -C comp.dcom.telecom > > >uunet!mcsun!sunic!liuida!prosys!news says: >Telecommunications digest.
