[net.records] Night Ranger review

sdh@rabbit.UUCP (01/10/84)

The new Night Ranger album, Midnight Madness, is a must for rock fans.
IT IS NOT HEAVY METAL. At least not in the style of Ozzy Osborne or Judas
Priest who have given it bad conatations.

They have a style reminiscent of Boston, with just a touch of Queen
The eight finger hammering technique in 'Rock in America' must be heard to
be believed!!! Unfortunately, it seems that (so far) only guitar players
can really appreciate the difficulty in that style.
And yes, they even get mellow for a while in 'Sister Christian'. A very
harmonically pleasing song to say the least.

Its worth it. I think its far better than a lot of the albums that are on
the shelves today. Night Rnager doesn't have to depend on the 50's style
of music or too much synthesizer (are you listening Van Halen?), because
Their stuff stands up for itself.
