I have been trying to convert the ../news/doc/*.mn files using nroff & troff into readable/printable files. Is there supposed to be a file explaining the steps to accomplish this tasks. I have tried just kicking off the Makefile, but the output is sent to the screen, not to a file. If I redirect the output to a file, I cannot cat output file (or pg) without junk appearing here and there. I have tried using troff/nroff manually without using the tmac.n filter but then there are no tabs or inserts to make the document professional looking. Any comments, or helpful statements welcome. Other than read the nroff/troff/manroff/deroff manuals. It's like learning another language. There must be a simple way just to get a decent output file or printout. -- =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Troy D. The best Answer I got was from Michael J. Corrigan at UCSD.EDU. Short and it did the trick. Thanx Michael. So this posting is for those who might have wondered the same question. This is mostly helpful for News Admins who need documentation on this usenet stuff to pass out to other users. I put my output in a directory and referenced it for users to read. $ nroff tmac.n install.mn | col -b > output_file <cr> =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Troy D.
