[news.admin] moderated groups and mailpaths

fedor@uu.psi.com (Mark S. Fedor) (02/23/90)

My mailpaths file is totally empty and I know that
my active file has certain moderated newsgroups
	marked as unmoderated.

Where can I get the latest and greatest mailpaths info
and also a latest list of moderated groups.

	Thanks...

	Mark

Oh now!!! You don't need it; you won't want it either...

The mailpaths file is maintained at the large backbone sites: they
know all about the latest aliases for the moderated groups. *Your*
mailpaths files should only contain two lines (assuming you're
running B news 2.11.x):

one line containing the word "internet" and a "printf" like path
to the nearest machine that understands Internet email addresses.

one line containing the word "backbone" also followed by a "printf"
like path to your nearest backbone site that maintains a full list
	of aliases.

This is what I have: we understand Internet mail address ourselves and our
nearest backbone is "hp4nl.nluug.nl". So it becomes:

		backbone	%s@hp4nl.nluug.nl
		internet	%s

			good luck,
