With just a tad of modification to the FASCIST code in 2.11 (and the grafting of some 2.11's FASCIST code to rn), I've got restricted newsgroups, and selected access to them, working well on our news machine -- for those users who actually log in to that machine to read their news. The only control I currently have over these groups via nntp is to grant or deny access to them globally. I've currently got nntp access to these groups turned off (the "restricted groups" feature isn't something that's being advertised yet at this site.) I've got a couple of possible schemes worked out for allowing selected access to these groups, both of which would involve local extensions to the RFC977 command set. Before I try to implement this, and possibly re-invent the wheel, has anyone else already done something like this in B or C news? If there are already some "standards" for this sort of thing around I'd like to try to comply with them. Thanks in advance. Malcolm L.
