The order has come down from up high: over the next week, some serious reconfiguration will occur with cbosgd and cbatt. The 3B2/400 currently known as cbatt will be renamed cbosgd and will take over the phone lines and most of the functionality of the VAX 11/750 currently known as cbosgd. The name cbatt will become dormant, although it is likely it will be assigned to a new machine sometime in the next several months which would take over these functions. The net effect of this on all of you is that cbatt will go away in a few days, and cbosgd will be in the backbone in its place. No users will be on cbosgd, but hopefully all their mail will be forwarded to the 750. System administrators please make the following changes immediately: (1) Add "-dcbatt" to the flags on your pathalias command line and rerun pathalias. This should avoid routing mail through cbatt. (2) Edit /usr/lib/news/mailpaths; if it mentions cbatt anywhere, change this to cbosgd or to some other backbone host. If you are a UUCP neighbor of cbosgd, the phone numbers are expected to stay the same, but you'll be talking to a new machine, so beware. If you are a UUCP neighbor of cbatt, you might as well remove it from your L.sys or systems file, unless you are also a netnews neighbor. If you are a netnews neighbor of cbosgd, your feed will be moved to cbosgd (e.g. it will stay on the same machine.) I'll contact you all directly to work out the details, since we'll have to time this. If you are a user on cbosgd, stay tuned; your login will stay on the 750, but if you aren't in our department, you've probably already gotten paperwork that is relevant. Problems, mail me at cbosgd!mark (if it works) or call me at (614) 860-4276. Mark
