As of Thursday, Dec. 17th, yetti (York U. Computer Science research system) will be effectively out of usenet/mail cycle, to be replaced by a system named yunexus (Computing Services General Purpose UNIX). The new system inherits all of yetti's connectivity, as indicated by the maps at the end of this notice. yetti becomes a leaf-node connected to yunexus through tcp/ip. yunexus is considered to be the York University backbone for uucp/usenet/news/mail. The reason for deciding to do the switchover next thursday is that we get few days to take care of the glitches before the christmas holidays, and the traffic should be low around the holiday. Also, by the time the new year is in, the network maps should be up-to-date.
