[news.sysadmin] uuxqt success messages

mark@drd.UUCP (Mark Lawrence) (10/14/88)

My newsfeed is a Compaq 386/130 running SCO Xenix-386 2.2.2 running news
patchlevel 14. My machine is a Sun 3/50 running SunOS 3.5 running news
at the same patch level. We are using batch and compress.

When the news comes in, every batch returns a uuxqt exit(0) success
message back to the news userid on the feed. We have both checked our
localize scripts, resulting defs.h, Makefiles and sendbatch files to
ensure that uux flags are set to -n wherever uux is even *hinted* at.
My feed claims that he doesn't have any special sending sequence set up
in his sys file. I had another Sun feeding me some of the newsgroups for
awhile and he didn't get any return mesages. My main feed sends news to
other Xenix machines and he doesn't get junk back from them. When I feed
outgoing articles to him, I don't get a status return.

Anybody have any suggestions?

Mark, I don't have much info on SCO-XENIX or SunOS 3.5 but I encounter-
ed this nuisance with my news feed. I am running AT&T Sys V 3.2 (real
UNIX :-))
We corrected this by changing the arguments to 'uux' as follows:

	UUXFLAGS -r -z to UUXFLAGS -r -b

in "defs.h". This can (should) be done through the "localize.sh" script
and recompiling 'news'.

Hope this helps.

[Thanks Syd!(@dsinc)]
