Many of the UUCP maps I see coming in seem to have incorrect costs for domain gateways. Typical pathalias input looks like foohost = foo.bar.com foohost .foo.bar.com This assigns a pathalias cost of 4000 to this gateway, since 4000 is the the default cost in pathalias. 4000 is almost equal to a cost of DAILY. Since in many cases foohost *is* foo.bar.com, this cost should be near zero, for example foohost .foo.bar.com(LOCAL) should it not? Or am I missing something here? -- Bob Weissman Internet: bob@oli-stl.uucp [but soon to become bob@stl.olivetti.com] UUCP: ...!{ ames | decwrl | oliveb | pyramid }!oli-stl!bob Arpanet: bob%oli-stl.uucp@ames.arc.nasa.gov

Bob Weissman asks whether foohost .foo.bar.com is not better expressed as foohost .foo.bar.com(LOCAL) for domain gateways in the maps. this is what i had in mind, and that's the way i do it in the citi map. i'm pretty sure i pointed this out to mel and mark horton a long time ago. peter
