Sorry for crossposting this in such a narrow width, but I am not certain
which group to concentrate on....
We get the 'pubnet' distribution from killer, our news host, and then feed it
out accordingly to sites downstream. Recently, a site switched from a exitting
pubnet site to ours, and suggested that there MIGHT be traffic missing the
feed we were getting, or there might not be. But I got curious and decided
to do a sendsys for a count of hands.
Well, some time ago, another site did the same thing. They came up with
(I think - it has been a while) around 80 or 90 sites responding. I came
up with only 39 or 40 (I think I misplaced one with a typo), considerably
less. Now I know about the fickleness of sites to carry then not carry then
maybe carry again, etc. I also realize that an intermitent site may be
the only entry point into a large branch of the distribution, and if it
goes, the others go too.
It is for this reason that I am posting now. Would as many of you that
know (or can find out) that you are 'supposed' to carry the pubnet distri-
bution please send me email stating so? This can help me compare the
sites I have sys entries for with those of you that are (or used to) be
connected with the distribution. There may be no problem at all; 40 sites
may have skipped out! :-)
