Many thanks to the Usenet news administrators who emailed/posted suggestions to improve disk usage with rnews and expire. Just about everyone suggested using the dbz.c software, and hrc!dan sent me version 1.5 (1988). We've converted the software and have been running fine for the last couple of days. As an aside to other sites who may wish to make the conversion, if you're using history.d/0-9, you'll need to cat them to produce one gigantic history file before running expire with the -R option; the code under the #ifdef DBM construct apparently expects a single all-encompassing history file. Again, thanks to your timely response. -- Duane Morse ...{asuvax or mcdphx}!anasaz!duane (602) 861-7609
