I'm trying this posting again, with my fingers crossed.
Hello and thanks in advance for any help you can give me.
I recently set up news on my machine running Interactive 386/ix and am
receiving news nightly from another site. My boss wants to save news articles
from a few select groups forever, that is, he wants to archive them in some
way and be able to peruse them at later dates by subject and date or
whatever.
Does anyone know of code/scripts/tools which would help me manage a news
archival? The archival would have articles from news groups and I would
like it to have the following capabilities:
- perusal by subject and follow a subject
- the articles are transferred from the spool dir to archival at
expiration time
- dump an article to a file for further use or printing
- maintain all header information
- ability to keep an index of all articles so some can be offloaded
to tape for later re-load when needed
