Within the last 2-3 months someone posted a perl script that performed the news "checkgroups" script function (in a much improved manner). It took input from several sources and created a much cleaner "newsgroups" output than the stock shell script distributed with Cnews. I would *much* appreciate this as well--not only for the cleaner output
claimed, but because I find that large numbers of top-level names break our
version of checkgroups (we run B news 2.11, and our checkgroups script
occasionally sends an oversized RE to egrep).
If it's not too long, I'd like to see it posted again.
