I couldn't get the first 2.11 patch to apply -- I got a message from patch,
Assertion failed: fillsrc==p_end+1 || fillsrc ==repl_beginning, file pch.c line 636
abort - core dumped.
I am using patch 2.0 under AT&T System V on a VAX.
Any help would be appreciated.

It's fixed in patch #3 to patch. The same thing happened to me until I put in the most recent patches for 'patch' that had come over the net - then I retried and it worked fine.
