A few suggestions for the next release of news: 1. Seperate the news delivery system from the news reading system. We use rn exclusively here, and I don't want to waste time or energy to compile readnews, checknews, vnews, etc. This would probably help clean the code up as well. 2. Make a new entry type for the active file that indicates that the group has been removed. Then disallow any further postings and cause the group to automatically get rmgrouped when all the remaining articles expire. 3. Create a new field in the sys file for distributions, rather than doing double duty with newsgroup names. We want things with distribution na, but don't want na.forsale. Having na,!na.all is silly. I would be interested to hear if some of these ideas are already being considered, or if they present enough problems that they are unworkable. -- Joe Pruett ...!tektronix!tessi!joey

Here's another suggestion: Get rid of localize.sh, and get Larry Wall's Configure program. Wayne H. Pollock, UUCP: ...{ihnp4,cbatt}!cbnap!whp "The opinions expressed above are ficticious. Any resemblance to the opinions of persons living or dead is purely coincidental."
