First I would like to thank everyone who responded to my plea for help in finding the patches for News 2.11B. After having applied them all and trying to recompile everything a problem has reared it's ugly head. It seems that checknews will not load correctly. Here is the output from make: cc checknews.o process.o cpathinit.o rextern.o nntpxmit -o checknews _end: ld:user attempt to redfine loader-defined symbol _environ: nntpxmit: multiply defined start: nntpxmit: multiply defined _main: nntpxmit: multiply defined _moncontrol: nntpxmit: multiply defined mcount: nntpxmit: multiply defined _nstrip: nntpxmit: multiply defined *** Exit 2 Stop. ANyone have any idea what might have gone wrong? Also, pointers on what has to be done differently for NNTP clients and servers would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Looks like I am at fault here. I used NNTPSRC in the patches to point
at the NNTP source dir. In NNTP 1.3, NNTPSRC is used to indicate the
nntpxmit sources. I am not sure what NNTP 1.4 will do. The version of
nntpxmit that I am alpha testing has its own makefile and is no longer
dependent on the news source code. So this may only be a short term
problem once NNTP 1.4 is released.
