We are running news2.10.3 with NNTP 1.3 on a network
of Multiflow traces and suns (w/yellow pages). The the host which
runs nntpd is 'm2', but it is known to the outside world as 'mfci',
and all the rrn/inews use the alias 'newshost' to get to nntpd.
This works great, but I've found a few problems was wondering
if anyone might have a better fix for them:
1) the pseudo inews fills in a 'From:' which should be
my-loginname@mfci.UUCP, but ends up looking like news@mfci.UUCP.
My fix was to edit Pnews.header to fill in the From: line.
2) Pnews.header cats /etc/passwd instead of 'ypcat passwd'
(yellow pages only)
3) Sender: is always filled in as root@mfci.UUCP
(no fix yet)
Is there a newer version of nntp out their ?
Has anyone else had these problems and fixed them 'better' ?

You can get both News 2.11+14 and NNTP 1.4 from osu-cis via anonymous UUCP. Please let me know if you'd like a copy of the instructions. -=- Bob Sutterfield, Department of Computer and Information Science The Ohio State University; 2036 Neil Ave. Columbus OH USA 43210-1277 bob@cis.ohio-state.edu or ...!cbosgd!osu-cis!bob
