Recently, I reinstalled news (2.11 patchlevel 8) with the Xref option enabled in defs.h. I thought the purpose of this option was to prevent rn from showing duplicate articles when articles are crossposted to several groups. However, I find that, although the Xref line is now generated, rn *still* shows every crossposting. Question: what am I doing wrong? My rn is version 4.3.1.4. -- UUCP: {uunet}!w3vh!rolfe | Rolfe Tessem ARPA: w3vh!rolfe@uunet.UU.NET | P.O. Box 793 PACKET RADIO: W3VH@WA2PVV | Great Barrington, MA 01230

Try adding "#define NORELAY" to rn's config.h.

With bated breath I tried this fix, but no go -- I still see crosspostings repeated as many times as they are crossposted. Surely someone else out there in netland has had this problem and fixed it :-(. Any other ideas? -- UUCP: {uunet}!w3vh!rolfe | Rolfe Tessem ARPA: w3vh!rolfe@uunet.UU.NET | P.O. I would turn on the +hXref option (in rn) and make sure that those cross-posted articles that you are seeing have the Xref header. Make sure that DOXREFS is defined in defs.h -- c.steinb@cooper.EDU Craig Steinberger at the Cooper Union, NY. UUCP: cmcl2!cooper!c.steinb ARPA: c.steinb%cooper.cooper.edu@NYU.ARPA
