Is there an "approved" fix for the double-appending-of-.signature problem? Where is it? As far as I can tell we have the latest patches for netnews (2.11 patchlevel 14) and rn (4.3 patchlevel 40)... no sign of a solution. -- tom lane Internet: tgl@zog.cs.cmu.edu UUCP: <your favorite internet/arpanet gateway>!zog.cs.cmu.edu!tgl BITNET: tgl%zog.cs.cmu.edu@cmuccvma

I don't know about approved, but it's fairly easy for any knowlegable user to fix for himself. The problem is that .signature is handled by three or four different pieces of software, and so the number of times it gets included varies from 0 to 2 depending on your configuration. My solution is to not use .signature at all -- I call my file .newsignature instead, and I made my own copies of Pnews and Rnmail that include it. Since no other software knows about this file, it is impossible for it to be included twice. For the same reason, it is also impossible for it to be censored by the obnoxious 4-line signature limit. --- Jef Jef Poskanzer jef@lbl-rtsg.arpa ...well!pokey "Everybody is somebody else's weirdo." -- Dykstra
