I would like to get some idea of how much people here are really reading the news here. We keep quite a bit of news around but I'm not really sure how useful it is to anyone. I can look at peoples .newsrc files and figure out what groups they are reading and how up-to-date they are but I would like to know more so that I can expire less useful things sooner (I get tired of trying to go to parent articles only to not find them :-). How the question - has anyone done up any patches to vnews (that's what 99.9% of the people here use) to do any data collection on how many of the articles marked as "read" in the .newsrc file have been skipped over after the header or if the body of the message has been read? Email to !uunet!pyrdc!prcpto!{smonroe, monroe, pdvscm, usenet, uucp} Thanks
