Whenever i see an unexpected "L" or "L*" coming out of some piece of software, i always immediatly suspect an unitialized char pointer -- cause that is what seems to be printed frequently in these cases... I'm not sure exactly why. I suppose that it has to do with what the header blocks contain for malloced() memory. -- Derek Terveer det@hawkmoon.MN.ORG w(612)681-6986 h(612)688-0667 "A proper king is crowned" -- Thomas B. Close, but I suspect no cee-gar. Check your "sys" file, and be sure the fields are all properly separated. I suspect a "locally-posted-or-4-sites-downstream-or-less" restriction is in the wrong field. -- Roger B.A. Klorese MIPS Computer Systems, Inc. {ames, decwrl, prls, pyramid}!mips!rogerk 25 Burlington Mall Rd, Suite 300 rogerk@mips.COM (rogerk%mips.COM@ames.arc.nasa.gov) Burlington, MA 01803 I don't think we're in toto any more, Kansas... +1 617 270-0613

Just as a guess, it looks alot like bugs I've had when I screw up a variable expansion in sh. Need to know the revision and configuration of your news system, but it looks like a bug in "Pnews" (I assume that's what you're using). Michael H.
