[news.software.b] /news_spool_dir/group/dir/: Not Owner

root@libove.UUCP (Jay M. Libove) (11/06/88)

I occasionally get a piece of mail to the user "news" from the cron daemon,
complaining something like

/usr/spool/news/comp/unix/questions: Now Owner.

(where comp.unix.questions could be any newsgroup, not just that one, not
just comp.*)

Every time, I check out the group in question and find that it is indeed
owned by news, group news, with appropriate permissions, no different than
the hundreds of other news group directories in the news spool area, yet I
got that error.

Okay, does anyone know what this means and why I'm getting it?

This is News 2.11 B patchlevel 8 on SCO Xenix 286 v2.2.1

Thanks!
