I am wondering if anyone out there has tried to configure the news software on Ultrix 2.3 as a USG installation? We are seeing a lot of strange things here and are wondering if there are some special tweaks that we need. The strange things include: 1. Expire not only expires the articles, but the articles are disappearing completely from the history.d directory's files. This means that we keep seeing the same articles over and over. 2. We dont get articles canceled. Instead, a file called /tmp/L<message-id> is left in /tmp, empty. 3. /usr/spool/news has lots of .arPID and .inPID files lying around, many of which are empty. 4. We are seeing a lot of inbound news garbled messages, creating core files and resulting in missing messages (they are never resent). We are using uucp to get the messages in. -- Larry W.
