No, no actual time trials, but remember, I was running Bnews on my UNIXPC
without DBM (did I mention this before?).  As far as I can remember, Cnews
on my UNIXPC using dbz is faster than Bnews on my UNIXPC using hist/0-9.

[note: I could never get dbm to run properly on my UNIXPC]
