[news.software.b] cnews' newsspool

paine@rust.dec.com (Willy Paine) (07/16/89)

I need your help and I already spend three weeks on installing cnews for
my Interactive/386. It works fine on postnews and rn, etc on outbound
news batch but inbound news batch is not working yet. I have checked
on rnews and it is working ok except newsspool is completely frozen.
I have no way but I had to abort this.

I have eight news batch files in /usr/spool/uucp area (total of 700K)
doing nothing! I am still trying to find a way to get these file and
toss into news directory.

I want to get cnews to work soon so I can continue to work on other
project... Thank you for your time.

Willy

Yes it is running from crontab but I am not sure it is working properly.
I think rnews was not executed from incomming mail at all because I put
echo in rnews for tracing. After incomming news is complete, uucp
spool was all clear and then news batch was gone up to smoke. There is
nothing in in.coming directory at all. I tried to add a line in
Permissions in /usr/lib/uucp for rnews but I dont know if it is working
right. I am using Interactive/386. I thought it would be nice to
have some manual work instead of crontab only.
