I can't think of any news item more boring to skip than survey responses. So far this newsgroup has had more interesting notes than random flames and is still on my subscription list. However reading more than a few pages of favorite albums is enough irritation to edit .newsrc and add !net.music. Consider for a moment how many newsgroups you've given a second chance once it irritated you enough to turn it off. Probably none. If enough useless flames appear in a short time, the newsgroup will be de-subscribed to en masse and there goes a large pool of possible interest. If you wouldn't post the article/note you're writing on the bulletin board within your department, don't post it to the net! paul pomes ucbvax!teklabs!tekcad!paulp tektronix
