our new admin cat has just installed nntp and b-news PL19. he is an anti-rn person, so i'd appreciate some help from you folks! i always like to customize rn to do some things that i like... (this is the first time i've used an rrn type installation, btw). one thing is to list usernames when the '=' command is invoked... the problem with this is that it doesn't seem to be caching things... that is, when i do '=' twice in a row, the second one is just as slow as the first -- it should run faster than the first '=' if things were caching nicely. i'm not sure how to turn this on... my second question regards cross references. the rn program on spdcc is very suave and it only shows me crossposted articles once. i recall some sort of #define KILLXREFS which controlled this feature, but i don't find it in the version of rn source that i have on this system. it is quite annoying to have kill files for every group in which crossposting regularly occurs... if you have an idea on how i can make rn kill articles which i've read in another group, i'd like to hear from you... any other clues, advice, or random news software flaming would be helpful! thanks... -- /* eli@spdcc.com ; 617-932-5598 */ /* US drug policy is genocide. */
